"Barbara T., 80+ years old, is a mother of three children and a grandmother of 9 grandchildren (ages 2 to 21 years), a former school teacher and school administrator. She spent retirement years babysitting, caring for her husband and large family, driving around the island and participating in numerous community events. Until she suddenly fell ill. After six months of hospitalization, she returned home a different person: she was weak, could not care for herself and could barely walk.
Now after seven months of managed care, she can handle her personal hygiene well with minimal help and uses a walker and a wheelchair to get around her home. She does physical exercises to strengthen her arms and arms and tries different ways to improve her mobility skills. She attributes this improvement in large part to the team of caregivers and Ms. Olivia Jove, Administrator/Owner, of Holistic Care In-Home Services.
Ms. Barbara: A very close and dear friend suggested that I contact Ms. Jove of Holistic Care In-Home Services because her invalid father improved physically and mentally, and enjoyed life better under the care of Holistic Care team until he died. So I did. Ms. Jove met with us, and she clearly and patiently reviewed the goals and services provided by her agency, the pay schedule and the responsibilities of the caregivers and the client to work together cooperatively.
I found the caregivers to be amenable, capable and adaptable to changes in the day's routine. My caregivers are excellent: they are very capable, do their work effortlessly, always respectful of my personal space and my beliefs, kind and friendly to family and visitors, and attentive to my needs. They applaud my small successes (for example, when I master a particular skill like walking up two steps at home and help me monitor my blood sugar and regulate my sugar cravings. I like that we can share stories of our different upbringing (mine in Hawaii, and theirs in the Philippines). Each of them knows what Ilack and knows how they can help me day by day until I can do without their help. So I will keep trying until I succeed. An important point is that you must feel confident and comfortable in your surroundings with your caregivers. If something just does not seem right, call Ms. Jovie to discuss your concerns. You must take control of your well-being and your life."
